The oasis in the Gampadels Valley.
The chance to get away and simply be conscious of the here and now. Stop a moment and listen. Nothing – except the sounds of nature. The Manuaf mountain lodge is the refuge our souls yearn for.
Owned by one family for many generations and robustly built from solid timber harvested under a waning moon (“moon wood”) and with larch shingles, it makes your heart leap at first sight.
And that’s before you’ve crossed the threshold … Inside is where you can really appreciate the attention to detail and passion for history evident in the work of local carpenters.
Flooring made from larch or natural stone with underfloor heating makes the interior snug – but just a glance out of the traditional, chalet-style counter-sash windows will entice you back outside.
There’s just one thing you won’t find here: hurly-burly.
The fox and the hare would not want that, too, who say good night right outside the door.
